- The title might be expired. Your time begins from the moment you check the book out, not from when you download the book.
- The title might be “pending”. Pending means that Amazon has not yet been able to deliver your book.
Q: Why is Amazon telling me that my title is in a “pending” status?

- Your Kindle might not be connected to Wireless. Your Kindle needs a Wireless connection to the Internet to be able to download your library books. (Libary loans cannot be delivered over the Whispernet.) Sometimes your Kindle will drop your home connection. Be sure to check it in your Kindle’s settings. Also, you have to connect manually anytime you use your Kindle on a new Wireless network.
- Your book might be published by Penguin Books. Penguin has withdrawn from Overdrive. Penguin books that we have already purchased must now be delivered to your Kindle through your USB cable from your computer. Page 13 of my Overdrive Ebooks for Kindle guide shows one way of doing this.
- Does your Kindle have Wireless capability? Some of the oldest Kindles do not. Since Amazon will not allow library books to be delivered over its private Whispernet, you will have to transfer your ebook from your computer using your Kindle's USB cable.
- Your book might just be taking longer to download. Give it a few minutes to finish and then check again.
